Beasties on the Blossoms

Just Slugs, snails, beetles and weevils, just to name a few of the beasties that bother. They may cause some of the gardener’s biggest headaches, after the worries of the weather. There are so many bugs and “cures” to take care of them. What is the best one? This is hard to decide, one could choose to broad spectrum kill all, anything with wings, slime or both. However this could kill all the beneficial beasties that fit in those categories as well. Watch your garden especially the tender and vulnerable new growth; there is where you will likely see your culprit at work nearly any time of day. You may wish to capture it in a sandwich bag and bring it to the garden center, where it can be identified and targeted for elimination if necessary. If you identify the pest on your own here are some potentially useful products of assistance we carry here at Hamlen’s.

Hamming It Up

Heart Beet

Do you carrot at all for me?
My heart beets for you,
With your turnip nose
And your radish face.
You are a peach.
If we cantaloupe,
Lettuce marry.
Weed make a swell pear.
